I am so happy spring is in sight!
This is a little hand sewn daisy that I'll use for bobby pins and on cake toppers. I am planning on doing a show May 1st with the Wedding Co in Toronto.
I just finished this custom baby project for a little girl named Reagan. I used a combination of vintage and new fabrics which I painted and dyed. I added little details like stitches, but wanted a simple and graphic overall approach. I also painted the frame with pink and white stripes
I had forgotten how long it has been since I have done something that is larger than 5 by 7 inches and in full color! It was a real challenge to get each letter to look interesting on it's own, but also fit in the group (By the way, the white around the rainbow is not so bright in person).
(The N was made from an old pillowcase. I liked the appropriateness).
So I know this is a weird one, but she has become one of my favorites. Back several posts, I talked about sketching in paint and here is an example. This is seriously tiny, maybe 3 and a half inches high, one of those things I don't know if I'll bother to put on etsy. It actually is charming in real life, but in this photo those paint blot nostrils are a little heavy looking. I am doing a whole rainbow selection of girls. I think I'll have prints soon. I took a long break from painting and I have now returned. My new series includes simple little line paintings like this paired with fabric paintings similar to the custom baby project technique.
