We got a real tree this year! I went to thrift stores and got bags of ornaments (the pretty aged silver kind- like the one above with a waffle texture) and a bunch of light up pinecones. I also made some garlands out of dyed paper straws, lots of leftover beads and ones taken from second hand necklaces. Our topper cost $2.95 and just needed a tiny little replacement bulb for the middle.
Shanna told me about a local craft store which feels like a time travel portal. It's pretty amazing. They have things on their shelves that seem to have been there for 30 years. I bought some tiny ornaments and made tags for my nieces and nephews.
I have been making little pillows lately. I dye old fabric and print images on it and then embellish with very nice beads. I gave these out as Christmas gifts.
Here's a tree topper I made for my friend Kate. The middle is an old clip on earring. The star itself is card stock that was spray painted, glittered and lined with some old ribbon.
And some homemade wrapping paper. I had a stamp made of a drawing I did of a star (if you are in Rochester and looking for a good stamp maker, go to CH Morse on Clinton). Then I used some glitter I got at the time warp craft place I mentioned.
I am not doing any shows until the spring, so I want to keep working on some things for our house and some baby crafts- I am due to have our second baby at the end of January... glad I have so many sweaters! I don't know when I'll post next, but hopefully I'll put up some home projects I have been promising to show for a while. Happy New Year!!
